Early Satsuma Button with Women and Children Classic, early Satsuma button, signed with red Oriental characters on the back, has the old crackle straw glaze with figures of three Oriental woman and 2 children. Satsuma button has a black border with heavy gold overlay. There is a substantial use of gold on all of the figures and edging and the details are quite fine.
This fine Satsuma button is most likely late 19th or early 20th century and has the classic unglazed self shank. It is in excellent, original condition.

Paisley Basse-Taille & Champleve Enamel Button One piece paisley design button using both basse-taille and champleve enamel techniques on brass base with loop shank. Button has wonderful cobalt blue background with delicate Paisley swirls in beautifully muted tones. Looking under a loupe, there appears to be slight enamel wear along one wire edge. 1 1/8" domed design and mostly very good condition, as shown.

Chu and the Carp 3/4 This 3/4" button is called either "Chu and the Carp" from a Chinese fairy tale, or "Kinko and the Carp." Kinko was the Chinese immortal who visited the carp in the sea and rode away on the carp to make his home in the sea forever. This button is stamped brass over a pearlized celluloid background with brass rim, steel back, wire shank, marked Eingetragen with 3 stars on blackened back. Very good condition, 6 available, priced each.

Lady Washington Pearls--Great Mother/Child Graphic Here are a pair of 7/8" mother-of-pearl, 2-hole sew through buttons on a simply wonderful card. These Lady Washington Pearls are wired onto a card with the picture of a mother and daughter, fine red line border, marked made in U.S.A. I think the fine color and the subject of the design make this a wonderful collectible. Slight crease on the card but otherwise in great condition.
