This is an unusual brooch, signed Limoges and Mary C.(not legible) in gold script on the back of this high-domed design. The top of this highly dimension piece is molded blue glass applied to the enamelled base and accented with gold enamel. The lower section of the pin is teal blue basse-taile enamel with gold accents in a gently swirled design.
The piece is prong set in a silver metal frame, which is unmarked but is probably sterling. It has a bayonet clasp, which is generally a sign of European manufacture. The back of the frame has engraved Xs all around it. The condition is excellent and the size is 1" round x 1/2" in depth.
Altogether a wonderful and unusual pin, perfect as a special gift or just to treat yourself. |
