Lovely, small Victorian pin/brooch showing a Victorian woman in an elaborate costume. Done in guillocche enamel on brass with a dark green background, pale green and ivory dress with brass trim. Detail is exceptional and the enamel is in excellent condition. Guilloche is the technique of using a transparent enamel over a chase background for a textured affect.
Octagonal brass pin has a beaded border with an older style safety pin clasp, dating this to around the turn of the 20th century. The front is in excellent condition, while the back does show some tarnish. Size is 1 1/8 inches on this vintage charmer. |
