I have never seen a piece made like this before: it has a small, rectangular, hand carved shell cameo bezel set in the center of a diamond-shaped silvertone metal brooch. The metal has repousse fleur-de-lis in an irregular design over the entire surface and the cameo bezel is an integral part of the setting--not a separate piece set into it.
The back is fairly plain with some random swirls that make it look as if the metal had been poured into a mold. The cameo pin has an older style C clasp and the pin stem may have been replaced, but is tight and secure. Overall this unusual cameo pin/brooch is in very good, original condition with slight surface scratching. Size is 1 3/4 inches. This is an unusual piece and would fit very well into a cameo collection at a very reasonable price. |
