Super Arts & Crafts brooch, marked sterling on the back, has a pierced frame with cut-outs around a bezel-set moss agate oval cabochon. Moss agate is a member of the quartz family, and the organic material is integrated during the crystal formation. The sterling setting is simple, yet elegant, rtypical of Arts & Crafts items.
Details include a shadowbox effect at both ends and on either side of the moss agate cabochon. There are three small beads at each end and a single bead on the side. One of these beads is missing, unfortunately. There are two graceful swirls at the top and the bottom of the moss agate.
Other than the missing bead, which does not really detract, this Arts & Crafts pin/brooch is in excellent, original and unpolished condition. It has a secure safety clasp, with a slight bend in the pin stem, but still works perfectly. Size is 2 3/8 x 7/8 inches. |
