This is a great hat ornament, probably around the turn of the 19th century, with a long pinstem and rhinestone fleur-de-lis finials. There are black prong-set glass ovals with an applied sawtooth-set rhinestone decoration at each end of this hatpin decoration.
This elegant hat ornament is in very good original condition with some darkening of the rhinestones, but it doesn't detract from this unusual piece. The finials are each 1 x 1 /2 inch and total length is 5 inches. The pinstem pulls out from one end and comes to a sharp point so it can go through the hat's fabric. Use your imagination and you can find interesting ways to wear this ornament. |
