This is a beautiful, early Peruzzi Virgo pin, signed 'sterling Peruzzi' on an applied plate, and is characteristic of his Italian production. The brooch shows a young woman kneeling and surrounded by grapes, fruits, wheat and foliate designs. It has a banner with the work 'Virgo inscribed along with the Zodiac astrology symbol. Virgo is your sun sign if you were born between August 22 - September 23rd.
This Peruzzi Virgo is in wonderful, original condition with soft patina and oxidation to accent the design. I have not polished this piece, preferring to leave it in original condition. This pin is a heavy casting and does show some age wear to the details.
The measurments of this Peruzzi Virgo are 2 x 2 x 1/4 inch deep.
