Victorian sash pin in a gilt brass oval with symmetrical engraved lines and a hook to make it appear to be a buckle--a common theme in sash pins of the era. It has applied, finely textured leaves and a large, amethyst glass facetted oval. The bezel-set stone is surrounded with a foliate frame.
This lovely piece of vintage jewelry is in very good, original condition with slight finish wear on the leaves. I have not polished the sash pin as I prefer to leave vintage items in their original condition. Brooch has the old style 'C' clasp which is stamped G.L.P. and it measures 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 and is domed to a depth of 1/2 inch and is a substantial piece.
