This is a simply stunning Victorian era sash pin, made in 10 separate pieces, 4 stylized arrows, 2 large and 2 small rounds and 2 ovals in silver-washed brass. Each piece is very finely engraved: the arrows with foliate designs with a tiny, bezel set turquoise bead; the ovals are set with two high-mounted, bezel set topaz facetted ovals and the rounds with spectacular winged, fierce dragons. An amazing piece of work!
This Victorian dragon sash pin is in very good, vintage condition with some loss to the silver wash where the brass shows through--it does not detract in the least from the beauty of this piece. The pin has an old style 'C' clasp and the different pieces are connected with oval tabs. There is significant tarnish to the back but I have not attempted to polish it, preferring original condition. Size is 4 x 2 7/8 inches and is lightly domed. |
