This 1960s David Andersen sterling brooch is a copy of a costume buckle from around 700AD and is part of the Saga series of Viking pieces created by David Andersen. Intertwined serpent design is probably a symbol dating back to early Viking beliefs.
This vintage David Andersen brooch is in excellent, original condition and is marked Reprod. Origin from Viking Period, D-A Norway, 925 S Sterling. Secure safety clasp, 2 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches and weighs 25 grams.
