Lovely Bacchante cameo carved in a material which ranges from a highly polished, rich brown on the face and bodice to almost black on the hair. Finely detailed cameo is wearing a strand of beads and her hair is covered with bunches of grapes and is done in high relief. Head is turned to the side.
This setting is marked 925 in two places, has a closed back and applied ornate floral and foliate detail on all four sides.
This unusual cameo brooch is in excellent, unpolished vintage condition and has a secure safety clasp. I'd love to know what the material could be.
